Shami Kabab

Ingredients  

  • 500g ground beef
  • 125g plain yogurt
  • 100g of dried chickpea dhaal
  • 3 green chili peppers
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 bunch fresh coriander
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 packet of Shan Masala Shami Kabab Mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup sunflower oil (or any other neutral oil)

Directions

Batter: 

  1. In a pot, cook the ground beef with the chickpeas, and add the ginger paste and garlic paste (DO NOT ADD WATER OR OIL)
  2. Cover and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes or until all moisture has evaporated
  3. Add the yogurt and salt and cook on low heat and covered until all moisture has evaporated
  4. Add the cut onions, the red chili powder, and the Shan Masala powder - cook for 2 minutes

Shan Masala Shami Kabab Mix

  1. Add the cumin and turmeric powder
  2. Remove the mixture from the heat and put it in a blender (make sure all moisture is gone)
  3. Add the green chilis, the eggs, and the coriander
  4. Blend everything together until you get a paste
  5. Form small round patties
  6. Fry your patties at medium heat in a pan with oil until golden brown
  7. Enjoy with lemon juice and any bread!
